- C60, also known as fullerene, is another organic material that has been widely studied in the field of organic electronics. It is a spherical molecule made up of 60 carbon atoms arranged in a soccer ball-like structure. C60 is a highly efficient electron acceptor material, meaning it can easily accept electrons from other molecules.
  
  C60 has been used in a variety of applications, including organic photovoltaics , organic field-effect transistors, and organic light-emitting diodes. In organic photovoltaics, C60 is often used as the electron acceptor material in bulk-heterojunction solar cells, where it is blended with a polymer to create a thin film. The blend of C60 and the polymer creates a network of interpenetrating domains that allows for efficient charge separation and collection.
